Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono said yesterday the first layer of tarmac on the stretch of the Victoria-San Lawrenz main road reconstruction project will have been laid by the end of September. The remaining finishing works will be carried out in October.

During a visit to the reconstruction works in progress at the main arterial road, Mrs Debono said the base course will be laid starting from the Pope John Paul II monument at the Victoria side up to Ta' Pinu junction.

Works in progress involve the shifting of services and the widening of the Ghasri junction.

Mrs Debono said the reconstruction of Ramla Road, in Nadur, is due to start after the summer season.
