A Maltese doctor has been awarded an honorary fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Malta College of Family Doctors president Pierre Mallia was given the award for outstanding work toward the British college's objectives. John Howard, who chairs the college's international committee, recommended Dr Mallia for the award.

Dr Howard said Dr Mallia managed to improve family medicine in Malta through his role as a general practitioner and by continuing to strengthen the local college and its relationships.
