Rangers striker Boyd breaks Hearts with a double

Two goals from striker Kris Boyd handed Rangers a 2-0 home win over Hearts in the Scottish Premier League yesterday.

Boyd hammered home a penalty in the opening minute of the second half after Croatian front man Dado Prso had been brought down by Robbie Neilson, who earned a second yellow card in stoppage time as Hearts finished with 10 men.

Four minutes later Boyd headed high into the net from a Lee Martin cross. Prso crashed a shot against the crossbar as Rangers came close to a third goal.

"I am happy with all of the game," Rangers manager Paul Le Guen said.

"We got better and better and it was important for our confidence."

Dunfermline's Mark Burchill smacked a penalty against the post as his side drew 0-0 at Dundee Utd.
