Indecency in dress

It is very sad to see that the Christian value of modesty in dress is fast disappearing in our dear islands.

Foreign fashions, particularly ladies' fashions - bold and revealing - are being followed blindly by our young ones and also by many not so young. The mentality seems to have set in that everything is acceptable nowadays, that no garment, however skimpy and daring, attracts undue attention or is, in any way, scandalous because everybody has got used to worse.

Human nature being what it is, I do not think that indecent attire can be taken for granted or that it will have no effect on others, particularly ladies' wear on gentlemen.

If we want to live an authentic Christian life, we should never permit ourselves to be possible stumbling blocks to our neighbours. Indeed, Jesus used very strong language against those who are a cause of scandal to others.
