All second-hand vehicles imported from Japan and Singapore can now be furnished with an Odomoter Certificate issued from the place of origin by the Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Centre Co. Ltd (JEVIC Ltd).

This applies to all used vehicles shipped to Malta after March 17. The Malta Transport Authority has commissioned JEVIC Ltd to carry out inspections on every vehicle, prior to its export to Malta, to determine the vehicle's mileage.

The introduction of this certification system is intended to curb abuse and provide buyers with evidence that the engine was not tampered with, mileage-wise.
