The Labour Party's spokesman for local councils, Chris Cardona, has written to Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg to complain that the Local Councils Association still does not reflect a majority of Labour mayors.
Five months after the March 11 local elections, when the Labour Party overturned the majority in local councils with 44 more councillors and seven additional mayors than the Nationalist Party, the association still has a PN majority, Dr Cardona said.
Despite several meetings and the exchange of correspondence between Dr Cardona and Dr Borg, the opposition has not received any feedback from the government, he said.
He insisted that "the present state of the association goes against democratic principles".
