Every day we read that tourist numbers are down and that the country is very concerned about it and yet one of the best hotels in the island, The Crowne Plaza in Sliema, has closed down.
There were a number of "regulars" staying there in November who had been many times and were at a loss to know where to go if they went to Malta again.
We ourselves had a thoroughly good holiday there and would have happily returned. We were spoilt all the time by a terrific staff. The food and accommodation were first class and the hotel was in a really central location. We were also able to swim outside when other hotels had closed their outdoor pools. It was one of the best pools and surroundings in Malta with its royal blue carpeting and white furniture and its high location with excellent views of the sea and surrounding landscape.
I guess that as a result of this hotel closing down there will be a number of people who will give Malta a miss next time they plan their holidays.
Maybe somebody can tell us why the closure of the Crowne Plaza was allowed to happen.
