Preparations are well underway for the 50-hour sailing marathon in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society due to take place at Marsamxett Harbour between tomorrow at 5 p.m. and Sunday.
Dinghies and boats are being used for a joyride against a donation.
The marathon, which will go on non-stop throughout day and night, will also see the participation of two teenagers - 14-year-old Melissa Cauchi and 17-year-old Julia Zammit who will be sailing for 50 hours on a dinghy.
Having spent the last four months working out at the gym, training and sailing, the girls are now looking for sponsors to help raise funds for this worthy cause.
This is not the first time that young persons have taken part in this charitable event. Two years ago, youngsters Nicholas Sammut and Darrin Cauchi sailed for 50 hours at a go.
Also present at tomorrow's marathon will be the students from Skolasajf who will be volunteering as well as showing their friends and families around. They will be demonstrating the skills learnt during the summer.
A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 7 p.m. by Fr William Bartolo which will be followed by a barbecue.
