Chris Camilleri will be paddling his way through tomorrow's K1 heats of the ICF flatwater racing World Championships at Szeged, Hungary. This is the second time that he is taking part in this international competition.
Camilleri, who has conducted a strict training regime for the championships, will take part in the 200m, 500m and 1,000m races.
This year he had a time of 38.18 seconds for the 200m distance and 1:54 for 500m.
In flatwater events, paddlers race on a straight course, each boat in a separate lane over the three different distances.
The worlds include kayak events in single (K1), double (K2) and four boats (K4), and canoe events, only for men, in single (C1), double (C2) and four boats (C4).
In kayaks, paddlers are seated and use a two-blade paddle. In a canoe, the paddler is on one knee and uses a single-blade paddle.
