The police and the army arrested a number of people who were allegedly found in possession of drugs on Monday night.
The arrests were made in different parts of the island. Some of those held were found carrying cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy tablets during AFM roadblocks and others were allegedly caught in possession of ecstasy and cannabis at a Paceville establishment.
The army said 10 young people were caught with drugs during vehicle check points mounted in the central and southern part of Malta by members of its C Special Duties Company. Another five young people were caught driving without a licence or insurance cover. The army said it handed over the arrested people and the drugs to the police.
The police said its drug squad had arrested four men and two women during a party at a Paceville establishment.
The men, aged between 17 and 26, are from Naxxar, Msida and Paola, and the women, aged 21 and 24, are from Rabat and Qormi respectively. They were caught in possession of cannabis and ecstasy, the police said.
A 26-year-old Msida man was also caught passing on ecstasy pills to a third person, the police said.
Police investigations are ongoing.
