I read in The Times and also in the programme of the Malta Arts Festival about DJ Posperger and his "invisible orchestra".

With all due respect to the journalist who wrote the article, the person responsible for booking the act and the DJ himself, I cannot by any stretch of the imagination understand how this act has been included in this arts festival. It is more fit to be included in the Carnival programme as it is no more than a farce.

I had to pay a visit to Valletta to see this DJ with two turntables in the blistering sun playing classical music and pretending to be a maestro of the orchestra that was playing the recorded music. Oh yes, I had some nice memories... memories of my childhood... as I used to do the same thing over and over again when I was about six years old.

To add insult to injury the article said that he was adapting the music to the surroundings and to the people. What a load of nonsense!

It would be interesting to know how much the artiste was paid to perform with his invisible orchestra. I would be willing to do a similar act, such as miming Pavarotti, for the same fee.

If Brussels has been taken for a ride by this street performer for two years, does it mean that our arts authorities have to fall for the same trap?
