Geninho became the third coach this year to part company with Brazilian champions Corinthians after a 3-1 home defeat to Figueirense left them rooted to the bottom of the table at the weekend.

"I handed in my post, I'm no longer coach of Corinthians," said Geninho, who was in charge for 11 matches at Brazil's richest and most turbulent club.

"Unfortunately, my work didn't produce the results I'd hoped for."

Geninho ended a previous stint at the club in similar fashion less than three years ago, when he resigned in the tunnel after a 6-1 defeat to Juventude.

Corinthians, who have 13 points from 16 games, fell apart as they conceded three goals in the first 24 minutes of the second half.

Antonio Lopes and Adhemar Braga had previously left the club this year and a total of six coaches have departed since December 2004, when Corinthians signed a partnership deal with London-based Media Sports Investments (MSI).
