Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has admitted that the three players he promised to sign during his election campaign will not now arrive at the club this season.

While campaigning for the president's job, Calderon said he would sign Milan midfielder Kaka, Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas and Chelsea winger Arjen Robben but the players' clubs have refused to negotiate their sale.

Calderon said Real Madrid's decision to call a halt to their bid to sign the trio was because coach Fabio Capello and sporting director Predrag Mijatovic felt the side had other needs.

"I would have liked all three to have come," Calderon said.

"But my first condition was that their arrival depended on the decisions of Capello and Mijatovic and right now they aren't a priority."

Milan attacked Real for their attempts to lure Kaka to the Bernabeu and vice president Adriano Galliani said he would do all he could to make the Spanish club's life impossible.

Calderon said the Serie A side had responded by trying to sign Ronaldo but he said the Brazilian striker would remain with Real.

Real have signed former Juve players Fabio Cannavaro and Emerson and Ruud van Nistelrooy from Manchester United during the close season and are now trying to close a deal with Arsenal for forward Jose Antonio Reyes.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have agreed to make two minor modifications to the deal to buy highly rated youth-team player Jurado from city rivals Real.

"The overall agreement is practically the same," Atletico's leading shareholder Miguel Angel Gil told reporters after a meeting with Calderon at the Bernabeu yesterday.

"The only changes are that Atletico will be penalised if Jurado plays against Real at the Bernabeu in the next two seasons and that Real will have a preferential option to buy back the player."

Mijatovic had agreed to sell the 20-year-old midfielder to Atletico for three million euros with an option to buy back the player for double the sum.

Calderon was reported to be furious when he was informed of the details and said last week that he wanted to renegotiate the fee.
