New members on Ornis committee

The Ornis Committee, which has various responsibilities related to hunting, trapping and bird protection, will be chaired by lawyer Tonio Azzopardi with Mario Vassallo, Sharon Cassar and Dione Mifsud as members.

Among its responsibilities, the committee has the tasks of recommending when the open and close seasons should be enforced as well as determining what species should be protected.

Announcing the new members, the government said there will also be two members each from Birdlife Malta and the Federation for Hunting and Conservation while Jose Sultana and Aldo Azzopardi have been appointed as experts on avifauna and hunting respectively.
