Six arrested for drugs

The police have arrested six men, including two foreigners, after the discovery of a variety of drugs in four separate cases over the past few days.

The drugs consisted of heroin, cocaine, amphetamine and cannabis resin.

Cocaine, amphetamine and heroin were seized from a house in Paola yesterday morning.

The police said they had been observing the place for a number of days. At one point a man was seen entering the house and leaving after a few minutes. The police approached him and he tried to escape but they arrested him. A body search on the 23-year-old from Tarxien and a search of the house yielded 60 grammes of heroin, 20 grammes of cocaine and a small amount of amphetamine, the police said.

The police on Wednesday morning apprehended a 28-year-old man in Cospicua after he was allegedly found in possession of three packets of heroin.

In the afternoon of the same day, the police stopped three persons - two Libyans and a Palestinian - after they saw them acting suspiciously at City Gate, in Valletta. Heroin and cannabis resin were allegedly found in their possession.

A 24-year-old man from Zejtun was allegedly found in possession of 10 grammes of heroin when he was stopped by the police in Gudja on Tuesday.

The police said their investigations showed that the drug was about to be trafficked.
