A 24-year-old man was yesterday charged with trafficking in about 10 grammes of heroin.

Magistrate Anthony Vella heard Aaron Axisa, of Zejtun, plead innocent to charges of trafficking in the drug and its possession in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use on and before Tuesday.

Magistrate Vella ordered that he be remanded in police custody and issued a provisional probation order to ensure that Mr Axisa could start addressing his drug addiction problem.

Police Inspector Dennis Theuma prosecuted.
