A group of players from the Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery have just spent a one-week training camp in Italy. Activities were organised by Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio, the Serie A club renowned for promoting youth players.
This year, among the hundreds of youngsters who took part in the training camp in Trento, were 11 boys and two coaches from the Birkirkara football school.
The boys had the opportunity to practise under the guidance of professional coaches and were assessed individually during competitive games. Apart from developing their skills, the boys enjoyed themselves in other activities that included tours and visits to places of interest in the region.
It was also a unique experience for coaches Franco Agius and Jeffrey Mifsud. They had the chance to train and help out on the field with Atalanta coaches Bonaccorso, Butti, Pandolfino and Biffi - all professionals at the school.
The Birkirkara boys who made the trip to Bergamo were Luke Mifsud, Zack Cassar, Gianluca Cardona, Luca Brincat, Sirage Abushkewa, Jeremy Cassar, Ryan Micallef, Ayrton Mifsud, Ryan Scicluna, David Spiteri and Michael Camilleri.
