Maltese dancer and choreographer Janet Vella put her work on the map last month when she assisted in the coordination of a record-breaking dance event held in London.

As dance captain, Ms Vella assisted the main choreographer of Big Dance, a week-long celebration of the joy of dance organised by the Mayor of London in partnership with the Arts Council of England. At the culmination of the project about 800 dancers in over 45 different dance disciplines come together in Trafalgar Square on July 22.

The dancers set a new world record - 45 styles of dance including belly dancing swing, flamenco and tango were performed to the same piece of music, the song Dancing in the Street.
