Obituary

AGIUS. On August 5, at Gozo General Hospital, Sister CORNELIA Agius, OP, aged 75, 50 years of which were spent as a member of a religious order, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her two sisters Sr Germana and Sr Rachele, her niece Sr M'Margerita Cassar, her brothers Joe, Louis, and Charlie, her sisters Guzeppa and Tereza and their families, besides other relatives and friends, particularly the community and children at Lourdes Home.
The funeral leaves Gozo General Hospital today at 4.45 p.m. for the Dominican Convent in Victoria from where the cortege leaves at 5.45 p.m. for Our Lady of Pompeii church where a Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 6 p.m. followed by interment in the community grave at Santa Maria Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Lourdes Home will be appreciated.

CASSAR. On August 1, at Villa Messina, SABINA née Debono, widow of Dr Charles George Cassar, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church at the venerable age of 99. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Georgia and her husband Joseph N. Tabone, Joseph and his wife Carol, Charles and his wife Rosette, her grandchildren Angela, Theresa and Alfred Cremona. Anne Marie and Andrew Fenech Azzopardi, Claire, Christopher, Juliana, Matthew, her great-grandchildren Liana, Thomas, Kyra, Nicola and great-great-grandchild Zak, relatives and friends.
Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at St Dominic's church, Rabat tomorrow at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord grant her eternal rest.

FENECH. On August 5, Fr Professor EDWARD FENECH, OSA, aged 73. He leaves to mourn his loss the Augustinian Friars, his sisters Mary and her husband Joseph Buttigieg and Mary Lourdes and her husband Anthony Bonnici, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 9.30 a.m. at St Augustine parish church, Valletta. No flowers by request but donations to the Augustinian Missions will be appreciated.

GALEA. On August 6, at St Luke's Hospital, EMMA, widow of Effie Galea, aged 84, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her children Joseph and his wife Yvonne, Marika and her husband Charles Attard, Cecilia and her husband Brian Bajada, and Paula and her husband Sandro Miceli, her beloved grandchildren Serena, Raphael, Allen, Keith and his wife Kris, Bernard, Mauro, Enrica, Claude and her great-granddaughter Chloe, her brothers and sisters, other relatives and friends - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow at 9 a.m. for the Carmelite parish church, Balluta where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to charitable institutions will be greatly appreciated.

MICALLEF. On August 6, at St Luke's Hospital, Maria, aged 91, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughters Jane, Katherene, widow of Carmelo Borda and Carmen and her husband Carmel Conti, grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 3 p.m. for St Philip parish church, Zebbug, where a Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at the Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Zebbug. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

Systemic Theory Courses

Agenzija Appogg, in conjunction with the Tavistock Portman NHS Trust, is for the seventh year offering post-graduate courses in applied systemic theory, both certificate and diploma, for the academic year 2006-2007.

Meetings for those interested in the introductory course will be held at the training room of Appogg, St Luke's Road, Guardamangia on Wednesday at 5 p.m. A meeting at 6 p.m. will be held for diploma students.

The courses are aimed at psychologists, social workers, general practitioners, psychiatrists, guidance teachers, counsellors, psychotherapists and nurses.

They provide ways of understanding family dynamics and of exploring alternative approaches to family situations.

Arabic Course

A group of 38 students have successfully completed a diploma course in functional Arabic, organised by the Education Ministry together with university's Arabic and Near Eastern Studies Department and the Staff Development Organisation.

The two-year course focused on modern standard Arabic and the history and civilisation of the near East.

Nine of those who successfully finished the course are government employees. A group of 11 students will continue reading for a Bachelor's degree in the subject.

The course will start again in October.

Maltapost Outlets

All Maltapost retail outlets, with the exception of those at Castille Place in Valletta, Malta International Airport, Qawra, St Julians and Victoria will be closed for business on August 14.

All sub-post offices and licensed stamp vendors will offer postal services as usual. Collection and delivery of mail will still be carried out normally.

All postal services will resume on August 16.

Persons With Disability

An activity to raise awareness of problems faced by persons with a disability will be held by the National Commission Persons with Disability (KNPD) later this month.

The event will underline the fact that persons with a disability can have a good quality of life if Maltese society provides them with the necessary support.

Being held on August 25 and 26, it will consist of an interactive, 90-minute programme in Malta and Gozo intended to be both entertaining and educational, featuring dance, song and musical theatre.

The EU's community programme to combat discrimination is funding the event.

Friday's activity will be held at Il-Menqa, Marsalforn while Saturday's will be held at Ghar id-Dud, Sliema. Both start at 8.30 p.m.

Best Student

Charmain Demanuele has won this year's RS Components award for the student with the best academic performance within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Malta.

The final year engineering student was presented with a voucher of £200 by Manuel Agius, RS sales manager.
