A flute and piano recital featuring Rós Sigfúsdóttir on the flute and Kirsten Simpson on the piano will take place at Temi Zammit Hall at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta, today at 9 p.m.

The programme includes Sonata in C major by Bach, followed by Henri Dutilleux's Sonatine for flute and piano, Lowell Liebermann's Sonata.

Rising From the Ashes by Tarek Younis and Gabriel Faurè's Sonata in A major op.13.

Ms Sigfúsdóttir was born in Iceland. She moved to London to study at the Trinity College of Music with William Boustany and was awarded a postgraduate diploma with distinction.

Ms Simpson, born in New Zealand, graduated from the University of Canterbury and continued her studies at the Royal College of Music until she received a postgraduate diploma in performance.
