George Cross - blessing or curse? (3)

I have just realised that an extremely servile mentality still lurks in the minds of certain Maltese people.

With all due respect, did we need King George of England to tell us how brave we were and how much we suffered during the war? And to give us a cross, bearing his name, and put it on our national flag in the process? Oh yes, I forgot, we were still a colony of the Great British Empire!

We are not a colony anymore and that's why the cross should be removed at once from our flag! Count Roger just gave us the colours... white and red! He gave us no symbol which relates to his person... No Roger Cross!

I'm convinced it's only a matter of time. We will remove the cross from our flag in due course. In the meantime I sincerely hope that more and more Maltese people understand this argument! We cannot allow our flag to fly showing a symbol of a foreign person... The George Cross - the cross of King George of England!
