And so the development zone extensions have been approved! Shame on us all! Another day of mourning! Arable land lost forever and turned into stone and concrete.
Ray Bezzina from the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment argued (sic) that the residents of Triq Geronimo Abos will benefit because the traffic will now pass through the proposed new road just above A M Caruana Street! That makes sense! Solving a problem to create another one. Traffic going to Naxxar should either use the Birkirkara bypass or go up through San Gwann! The fact still remains that the residents of A M Caruana Street spent much more money to occupy that particular residency and now the silence, the trees and the rubble wall bordering the fields will turn into dust, noise, an eyesore of apartments, more people and more cars in front of us, not to mention the new proposed road and the pollution and noise that it will bring with it! Pure madness! The land extension is just in front of us, and not behind our back gardens! This is a total injustice!
Albert Critien enlightened us that the population is growing and that therefore, if need be, we turn Malta into one concrete block! Hello! That is why we should ensure that no influx of foreigners keeps taking up residency on this small island and no more illegal immigrants are given refugee status. Yes, we have an over-populated island and we have a big problem! Turning what's left of the arable land into a depressing concrete jungle is one sure way of destroying ourselves!
