\nIn a free-scoring encounter, Exiles had little trouble in dismissing Otters in yesterday's dress-rehearsal to the big match of the day. The 23-13 scoreline reflected their supremacy.
The team from Sliema were in complete control, with their breaks wreaking havoc in the ranks of the Gozitan team. Loose marking from Otters made things easier for Exiles, who after building an 8-3 first-session lead, were able to hold a firm grip on the game.
To their credit, Otters always tried to make a fight out of it and on two particular occasions reduced the deficit to three goals.
But Dirk Dowling's team were never in danger of being caught up as Marco Booij and John Paris kept playing the scoring tune with 14 goals between them. On the Otters side, Hungarian Marton Toth helped himself to seven goals.
