The General Workers' Union has directed workers at the five companies of Mizzi Group to work to rule, go slow and refrain from speaking to clients by telephone or electronic communication.

The actions, which also include a total ban on overtime, follow an industrial dispute between the union and a number of car importing companies over the revision of a new collective agreement.

The union said an agreement had been close but the latest action was ordered because of the negative attitude shown by the Mizzi management.

The companies to be affected are Muscat Motors, Continental Cars, Mizzi Automotive Services, Industrial Motors and Nissan.
