Allegations by the General Workers' Union that Enemalta was undermining the rights of the workers' representatives were not only mistaken but they reflected the union's dishonesty in talks with the management over the corporation's restructuring, according to Enemalta.

The corporation said in a statement yesterday that throughout this year, until last Wednesday, GWU delegates had had 447 hours paid for by Enemalta to carry out union-related work.

This issue arose, the corporation claimed, in the context of discussions between the union and the management over the restructuring of the corporation that were being held in a very negative atmosphere.
