Just for the record, the George Cross on the Maltese flag does not relate to one particular person, but to several (July 26). The award was made to the people of Malta, not to a singular person called King George. Those who oppose the symbol's presence on Malta's flag may not know that the cross was awarded for gallantry. That is hardly surprising, given their ungallant dismissal of Malta's recent history and of the "elderly" readers to whom it is more than just a memory.
