Rosanne Spiteri Cutajar, a 25-year-old, is against the George Cross on our national flag, and insists on its removal (July 26). She also claims that the young people of Malta are of the same idea.

How she came to this conclusion I do not understand. I know of four countries with the red and white colours on their flags - namely, Malta, Poland, Monaco and Indonesia. Just take a look at these four flags and notice the distinctive Maltese flag with the George Cross on the top left hand corner. The other three are just plain red and white.

Is there a better place than on our national flag to show the world that Malta is the recipient of this great bravery award? What do we gain if it is removed ? Nothing.
