The Malta U-17 national team are participating in the Northern Ireland Milk Cup 2006, a well-established and renowned international youth football tournament which is being held in Northern Ireland between today and next Friday.

The U-17 side will follow up this tournament with an international friendly against their counterparts from the Republic of Ireland today week at 7 p.m.

In the Milk Cup, the Maltese were drawn in the Premier Section where they are due to meet Bayern Munich tomorrow (7 p.m.) and then Londonderry on Tuesday at 3.30 p.m.

Subsequent matches between qualifying teams from all sections will be held on Wednesday (quarter-finals), Thursday (semi-finals) and Friday (final).

The team is under the charge of coach Oliver Spiteri and his assistant Charles Scerri.

U-17 squad

Goalkeepers: Michael Incorvaja (Sliema), Nicholas Vella (San Gwann).

Defenders: Owen Bugeja (Floriana), Paul Kane Farrugia (Sliema), Keith Fenech (Birkirkara), Chris McKay (Pietà), Melchior Vella (Pietà), Jonathan Xerri (Hibernians), Giuseppe Muscat (Sliema).

Midfielders: Nathan Busuttil (Pietà), Miguel Ciantar (Sliema), Sheldon Grech (Pietà), Mark Scerri (Sliema).

Forwards: Dylon Grima (Pietà), Leighton Grech (Hibernians).
