The police are suspecting arson after a truck in Birkirkara and a room on the Birkirkara bypass caught fire.
Preliminary investigations have indicated that the cabin of the truck, parked in Dun Karm Street, was set on fire. The fire caused considerable damage to the truck.
The owner tried to control the fire himself but members of the Civil Protection Department had to be called in. The police were informed of the incident at 11.20 p.m. on Tuesday. A short while later the police were informed that a room used as a store on the Birkirkara bypass was also on fire.
Nobody was injured in the two fires.
Duty Magistrate Antonio Mizzi appointed a team of court experts to help him in the inquiry.
Police investigations continue. A police spokesman was unable to say whether the two incidents were connected.
