A Sliema man was yesterday charged with stealing over Lm1,000 from Sprachcaffe, in Pembroke, at about 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi heard Roger Testa, 46, plead not guilty to stealing the money, filing a false police report and lying under oath.

He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm5,000.

Police Inspectors Silvio Valletta and Carlo Ellul prosecuted.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto appeared for Mr Testa.
