Badminton Association general secretary John Attard will be taking part in the third meeting of the Confederation of Mediterranean Badminton (COMEBA) being held in Casablanca, Morocco, on Saturday.
This meeting will be a continuation of the first two COMEBA symposiums held in Rome (Italy) and Hertogenbosch (Netherlands).
As its designation implies, COMEBA groups together most of the countries bordering the Mediterranean. It was set up primarily to foster the game within the region while promoting the diverse interests of its member countries on the international scene.
In addition to Malta and host country Morocco, ten other associations confirmed their presence, namely, Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Italy, Spain, Syria and Turkey.
Delegates will be electing COMEBA's board of directors and will be discussing several issues of mutual interest to the participating countries.
COMEBA is gradually gaining momentum and is planning to organise an international competition - the Mediterranean Cup - in the initial part of next year.
