The General Workers' Union said yesterday it was stepping up its actions against car importers after they remained unmoved following the start of industrial action nine weeks ago.

The union said it is striving for a revision of the collective agreement that expired a year and a half ago.

The companies involved are Kinds Auto Sales, Michael Attard Ltd, Gasan Enterprises, UCIMCO Ltd, Muscat Motors, Continental Cars, Industrial Motors, Mizzi Automotive Services, International Automobiles Ltd and Mizzi Organisation Automotive Division.

The union's technology sector is trying to negotiate a single agreement that would be binding on all companies.
