The Diocesan Commission on the Family said that on the occasion of the feast of saints Anne and Joachim, being celebrated tomorrow, it wanted to salute grandparents.

Grandparents carried out sterling work with their children and grandchildren, the commission said, urging them to continue passing on the religious faith and values to their families.

The commission thanked them for their role in helping raise grandchildren, especially in cases where both parents worked and said grandparents deserved more than mere appreciation from society for what they were doing.

Grandparents should not be abused by their children, who had to keep in mind that not all of them had the energy to spend long hours with young children, the commission said.
