Hamdan Taha, assistant deputy Minister for Tourism and Antiquities of the Palestinian Authority, thanked Ray Bondin for his work related to the protection of Palestinian cultural heritage.
Dr Bondin is the executive co-ordinator of the Valletta, Mdina and Cottonera rehabilitation projects.
During a meeting of the Unesco World Heritage Committee in Vilnius, Lithuania, Mr Taha presented Mr Bondin with copies of a Unesco report on Palestinian heritage and possible future nominations for the Unesco World Heritage List.
Dr Bondin is one of two persons specifically mentioned in the report for his work in the Palestinian territories. He had chaired a Unesco seminar on Palestinian heritage in Jericho and evaluated a proposal for a shelter for one of the archaeological sites there.
As a result of his work the original proposal was completely changed and a fresh call for international tenders issued.
