Accused of heroin possession

Joseph Cioffi, 27, of Xghajra, was yesterday remanded in custody after he was accused of being in possession of heroin in quantities denoting it was not for his personal use. He was further charged with trafficking drugs close to a school or youth club.

He was further charged with trafficking drugs close to a school or youth club. Police Inspector Dennis Theuma said the accused was caught red handed selling drugs and was found in possession of 28 sachets and three grammes of heroin at the bus terminus in Zabbar.

The prosecution opposed a demand for bail.

Lawyers Michael Schiriha and Joe Brincat appeared for the accused.
