Two years ago Malta Heritage publicly committed itself to restore the headless statue of St Ignatius of Loyola erected at the main entrance of Malta Heritage's head office (formerly the Collegium Melitense/ex-Lyceum), Valletta. However, nothing has happened since. The statue is still without its head. Presumably it was a joke on Malta Heritage's part!

This baroque statue of St Ignatius Loyola dates to 1745, and happens to be one of the first statues - if not the very first - dedicated to St Ignatius Loyola in Malta.

This year marks the 450th anniversary of the death of St Ignatius. And the Company of Jesus, of which he was its founder, is celebrating the event. Let us give St Ignatius a token present on this Jubilee by restoring this artistic and historic statue which embellishes the façade of the erstwhile Jesuit College in Valletta.
