It was time to say goodbye to Blata l-Bajda for all Maria Regina Girls Junior Lyceum Fifth Formers, who on June 8 took part in various activities held to mark the end of their secondary schooling.

On this occasion all the students, teachers and parents were invited to attend a ceremony that was held within the school's Greek Theatre.

The programme to mark this occasion began with a speech by the president of the Students' Council, Ms Christina Bone, followed by speeches by the head of school, Ms Maria Debono, assistant head responsible for Form 5 classes, Mr Victor Agius, and Mr Paul Mifsud, Education Officer for Secondary Schools.

The main theme of all speeches featured mostly on the fact that this day marked the end of a phase and not the end of a process, as this was a lifelong one! All speakers highlighted the fact that ultimately this was a positive enriching experience throughout the five scholastic years.

A thanksgiving Mass was concelebrated by Fr Robert Grech, OCD. During the homily he encouraged the students to strive harder in life to achieve higher and told them they should always value the importance of praying and should never give up.

The ceremony continued with the prize giving to all those who were successful during the last scholastic year and the presentation of the school-leaving certificate to all students.

A reception followed, during which all students, teachers and parents had the time to chat and recall past events.

At the end, it was time to say au revoir and although it is always a sad occasion to leave school friends we were all glad this relationship reaped the desired results.

On June 15, Form 5 students met for the last time as a group for a harbour cruise. The trip was an enjoyable experience and when we arrived back at the Sliema front we had time for one last snap.
