Obituary

BONDIN. On July 20, at St Luke's Hospital, CARMEL, of Luqa, former manager Plant Malta Drydocks, aged 79, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Josephine, née Mifsud, his daughter Patricia, wife of Andrew Costa, Sandra, wife of Edwin Said, his grandchildren Conrad and his wife Audrey Ann, Ilona, Simon and Ryan, his brother Andrew and his wife Helen, Polly, widow of his brother Salvu, and Ines, widow of his brother Joseph, in-laws, relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Luqa parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at Luqa cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement will be appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest.

Requiem Masses

July 24 being the first anniversary of the passing to eternal life of SALVINO CASSAR, Masses for the repose of his soul will be said tomorrow at 11.30 a.m. at Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, and on August 7 at 6 p.m. at the Ursuline Crèche, Sliema. The attendance of family and friends will be greatly appreciated.

Diving For Charity

For the eighth consecutive year, Atlam Sub Aqua Club will be holding a Scuba Diving Open Day to raise funds for charity.

The event, to be held at Qawra Point from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow, will be in aid of St Joseph Home, in Sta Venera.

Each participant is expected to donate Lm2.50 for the home.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to try scuba diving under the supervision and assistance of experienced instructors.

Doctors will be at hand to carry out the necessary checks on all the participants.

Home Loan Campaign Winners

The first winners of a Lm500 prize featuring in Bank of Valletta's home loan promotional campaign are Carmelo and Pauline Fenech.

Four such prizes are being drawn every month with the amount being refunded to the customers' home loan account. Concurrently, Emanuel Aquilina has won a 42-inch plasma television set as the first prize in the first monthly lottery linked to personal loans. Both promotions are running up to August 7.

Customers taking out a new home loan up to August 7 are eligible to participate in a lottery.

Our Lady Of Mount Carmel

The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be celebrated in Balluta on July 30.

Activities in the coming week include celebrations for the members of the Carmelite Third Order on Monday, for children on Tuesday and for the elderly on Thursday.

On Sunday, the procession with the statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will start at 7.30 p.m. During the feast days, the band Tal-Karmnu - Balluta, together with other bands, will play marches in the streets of the parish.

Successful Students

Several students have obtained excellent results, some with distinction in the examinations of Cambridge International College of the UK represented by Future Focus Ltd of Floriana.

Gevit Bonnici and Andrew Bugeja, who followed the Diploma in Sales Management and Marketing course, obtained a distinction, as did Marita Cremona, who followed the Administrative/Personal Assistant/Secretarial Duties Course, and Alice Tolu, who did the Certificate in Good Practice in Child Care course.

Rosalynn Muscat, who followed the Modern Management/Administration course, also obtained a distinction.

Future Focus said the students following the Diploma in Purchasing did exceptionally well this year.

Maria Agius and Sergio Ciantar obtained a high distinction and Ray Zarb a distinction in the exam they sat in June.

Training Session

Participants in this year's Life- Cycle Challenge will be conducting one of their final training sessions at the Valletta Waterfront tomorrow between 4.30 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Every year the LifeCycle Challenge sees volunteers from every walk of life cycle cover 200 kilometres per day in order to raise funds for the renal unit at St Luke's Hospital.

The bikes to be used in this year's event are already on a ship to Norway.

The training session at the Valletta Waterfront, taking place on what will also be the final night of the Malta Jazz Festival, will be conducted on static bikes that were also used for a similar session held in Mdina last week.
