Magistrate Lawrence Quintano yesterday denied bail to a man accused of the murder of Francis Sant Cassia.

Carmel Camilleri, 51, of Mosta, stands charged with having killed Baron Sant Cassia on October 27, 1988.

Defence counsel Edward Gatt argued that his client should be granted bail in order to resume his job and make good for his family's upkeep.

But the prosecution insisted that the police were still working on the case and granting the accused bail could prejudice investigations.
