Great show, better organisation

Last Saturday evening I had the opportunity of being present at Malta's first international fashion show - Passion for Fashion.

I must congratulate the organisers for a fantastic show which brought out the artistic talents of the participating fashion designers including Charles and Ron, the beauty and commitment of the models, the talents of Jo Squillo both as a presenter and a singer and, last but not least, the outstanding talents of the local band Winter Moods and Ira Losco.

Having sent in my complaints last week after the other grand show of Joseph Calleja in concert, regarding the lack of the safety and security aspects of the venue, I wish to thank publicly the organisers for having taken the maximum steps possible within the time constraints to improve on the shortcomings I, and probably others, had mentioned. I must mention, in particular, the presence of the Red Cross Society with an onsite ambulance and the screening off of the construction areas leading to the venue.

Once again, well done, and I hope that the access to the venue, the parking areas, the washroom facilities and the bar areas will be planned to a five-star standard appropriate for a large number of people and the traffic they generate.

I would like to conclude by saying how disgusted I was at a small section of the audience, who, despite knowing that the show was being screened in 50 countries, found it stupidly opportune to jeer when the Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech was introduced by the presenter and asked to say a few words, which he did honourably, for the credit of Malta and the common interest of all Maltese.
