I agree with Tony Pace (Student Nuisance, July 12). These extremely youthful students are an unfortunate and annual summer nuisance to the neighbours of a hotel in Sliema. They are noisy, loud, brash and shout at all hours of the day such as the early afternoon but worse still at night.
Nobody seems to control them. Objects are deliberately flung from balconies and I have seen some students spit towards the street. As we well know, many families walk down to the seafront during the summer evenings.
It is totally irresponsible for these students to be allocated a hotel in a densely populated area, especially an area mostly inhabited by senior citizens. They should be housed in residences where they are not a disturbance to others.
By the way, is there really any profit in these students? Some time ago, a hotel employee was overheard saying they caused a lot of damage in the hotel. Also, they don't seem to have any spending power, as they congregate on the hotel steps in the evenings and spend their time shouting.
