Jean Mathias Vella and Rhys Sullivan, from the San Gwann FC nursery, together with Lydon Lee Micallef, of Mosta FC, will be attending a pre-season training camp in Asiago, Italy, starting on Friday until the end of the month.
The training camp, organised by Udinese Calcio, the youth development arm of the renowned northeastern Serie A club, involves a selected 100 youths from the club development programme.
The participation of the Maltese players was made possible thanks to the good contacts the San Gwann nursery have with Udinese official Luigi Infurna.
A statement yesterday quoted Christopher Sant, the nursery secretary, as saying that the new administrative set-up within his club is enabling the realisation of a number of plans.
"All our initiatives would ultimately benefit young players in the local football community," Sant said.
Both San Gwann boys are goalkeepers, with Vella forming part of the U-14 Section B championship winning team and KO finalists and Sullivan looking equally promising despite his young age. Mosta's Micallef plays in midfield.
In Italy, they will be monitored by Udinese youth coach Annunziato Zavattieri and head coach Giovanni Galeone. The latter will also be in Asiago with the senior Udinese squad for pre-season training and friendlies.
