A 30-year-old man was yesterday jailed for 18 months for stealing stereos from four cars in one night and a 34-year-old friend was conditionally discharged for two years for handling stolen property.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera handed down the judgement in the case against Matthew Frendo, 30, and Antoine Cassar, 34, both of Zebbug. She found Mr Frendo guilty of breaking into four cars, damaging them and stealing car stereos on August 4, 2005, and jailed him for 18 months.
She also found Mr Frendo guilty of breaching the conditions of a previous release for which she fined him Lm100.
Mr Cassar was given a conditional discharge for handling the stolen car stereos.
Police Inspector Jeffrey Azzopardi prosecuted.
