The Federation for Hunting and Conservation - Malta (FKNK) has welcomed Labour MEP John Attard Montaldo's formal admission to the European Parliament Hunting Intergroup.

The federation also welcomed his intervention on local traditional hunting and trapping at a meeting of the Intergroup on sustainable hunting, biodiversity and countryside activities.

Federation secretary Lino Farrugia said the federation could assure Dr Attard Montaldo that his move was greatly appreciated by the thousands of local hunters, trappers and their families.

The Parliament's intergroups provide fora for experts on specific areas.

The Federation of Associations for Hunting and Conservation of the EU (FACE) is responsible for the Intergroup secretariat and FKNK officials regularly attend Intergroup meetings, making sure that Maltese MEPs receive formal invitations from FACE to the meetings.

The last Intergroup meeting was the first for Dr Attard Montaldo.
