Eight stray dogs are living in the lap of luxury in Germany and Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary is hoping to send many more with the help of the Rural Affairs Ministry and Air Malta.

Aware of the work of Noah's Ark, the two entities have pledged to help, and Air Malta has donated 20 flights, carrying up to a total of 800 kgs (amounting to about two to three dogs, depending on their size) over the next year.

Noah's Ark (www.noasharkmalta.org) is also receiving funds from the German animal rescue organisation Internationalen Tierschutzvereins Grenzenlos e. V. to neuter 100 stray dogs in the north of the island.

Noah's Ark founder Fabio Ciappara said the German organisation was also taking some of the dogs and finding them homes in Germany.

Noah's Ark yesterday said it had several dogs that would make good pets. Meanwhile it is holding a fund-raising dinner at Melita Gardens in Attard tomorrow. For more information call 7973-0900.
