Floriana is not a suburb

I cannot agree more with Ms Lucia Davies (The Sunday Times, June 25) and Mr Edward Torpiano (July 10) about Floriana's heritage. I cannot say the same about Mr A.A. Camilleri (July 10).

First of all, his calling Valletta a metropolis made me laugh. It seems he does not really know what a metropolis is. Just because Floriana is called a suburb by some does not make it part of Valletta.

Floriana has its own mayor and council. Mr Camilleri was wrong to cite Chelsea, Kensington, Monte Mario, St Germain, etc., as examples. These localities cannot be compared to Floriana and Valletta.

What is wrong with the Hotel Phoenicia and the Valletta (!) Waterfront being in Floriana. Yes, geographically also the bus terminus, the Tritons Fountain and St James Ditch, which on Sunday is turned into an open-air market, are in Floriana. Facts are facts and it is ridiculous to try to change them.
