¤ Victoria celebrates the feast of St George today with a Pontifical concelebrated Mass led by Bishop Mario Grech at 8.30 a.m. President Eddie Fenech Adami will attend. The La Stella Band, accompanied by soloists Miriam Cauchi (soprano), Salvatore Ragonese (tenor) and Jaki Jurgec (baritone) will present The Mass in Honour of St George - Princeps Martyrum, composed by Professor Joseph Vella, the basilica maestro and La Stella Band director.

The St George and St Helen bands will play marches at 11.

At 6 p.m. Bishop Emeritus Mgr Nikol Cauchi leads solemn vespers composed by Professor Vella and sung by the Laudate Pueri choir.

The procession led by the bishop with the participation of the La Stella Band starts at 7.

At 7.45, the Nicolò Isouard Band will play marches from St Francis Square to St George's Square where a concert will be held under the direction of Emmanuel Spagnol.

At 8 p.m. the Mnarja Band plays marches from St Francis Square to Independence Square, where they will perform under the direction of Mro Joseph Grech. The procession ends at 10 p.m.

Festivities end with marches by the La Stella Band from Republic Street to St George Square.

¤ The cathedral parish is holding a high tea and tombola at the Crystal Palace, Marsalforn, on Friday at 7.30 p.m. Transport leaves Savina Square, Victoria, at 7. Tickets at Lm1.25 are obtainable from Grace Debono (2155-1460) and Coney Island Bar.

¤ A religious crafts exhibition is being organised by the Good Friday Enthusiasts at the exhibition hall on St Francis Square, Victoria, till Sunday. It is open from 8 a.m. to noon on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to noon at the weekend.
