Why do the people of Malta think they have a problem with illegal immigrants?

I have read reports that immigrants are grateful for the help the Maltese have given them, but they say the conditions in the detention centres are very harsh. They also say something very unusual for immigrants. They all want to leave.

They claim to arrive in Malta by mistake - they run out of fuel while crossing the Mediterranean between Libya and Italy and have to claim asylum in Malta to avoid being sent home - and then they are stuck. Under EU rules, they have to stay in the country in which they first arrived.

The immigrants' dream is to leave Malta. So why moan - they come to the UK with the intention of staying. Because of the idiotic laws of diversity in this country the government looks after them to the deprivation of us born and bred nationals.

My grandparents' generation would turn in their graves knowing the state of the UK after the wars they fought to protect the future of this country.

Boy are the Maltese lucky the immigrants want to leave - maybe to the UK. Our Parliament should take lessons from the Maltese, then hopefully they wouldn't want to stay here either.
