A total of 1,084 marriages were registered at the Public Registries in Malta and Gozo up to June 30 this year, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg said yesterday.

Replying to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Carmelo Abela, Dr Borg said there were 1,016 marriages in Malta and 68 in Gozo. Those in Malta included 314 civil weddings, 37 of which were between Maltese, 76 between Maltese and foreigners and 199 between foreigners.

There were 20 civil weddings in Gozo, of which four were between Maltese people and three between Maltese and foreigners.
