Joe Brincat, 36, will play for Floriana until 2008 after signing a two-year deal with his former Premier League club yesterday.
The veteran midfielder last played for Sliema Wanderers but during the summer break he was told to seek pastures new as he did not fit in the Blues' plans for the coming season.
Brincat, who will be teaming up with nephew Mauro at Floriana, left his first club Hamrun Spartans in 1995 to join the Greens with whom he spent three years before signing for Birkirkara.
Floriana also announced yesterday that goalkeeper Simon Agius is now their player. He was on loan in 2005/06 from Lija Athletic but yesterday Agius signed a long-term contract, pledging his next five years in football to the Greens.
Agius was also a transfer target for Valletta. However, these last few days the Citizens seem to have turned their sights on former Pietà Hotspurs no.1 Saviour Darmanin, a free agent.
Agius was an outstanding performer for Floriana last season and was voted the club's Player of the Year. He will receive his award during a presentations night on Saturday at the St George's Park Hotel.
Floriana are looking to strengthen their squad for the new season. The club is showing interest in Pietà defender David Camenzuli and Sliema players Alex Muscat and Adrian Mifsud, who was on loan at Floriana last season.
The only foreign player on the Greens' books so far is Nigerian Anthony EviParker.
